Cambodia Air Passenger Traffic Falls 9% as Air Cargo Rises 21%

PHNOM PENH, 6 August 2026 — Cambodia’s aviation sector recorded mixed results during the first seven months of 2026, with air passenger traffic declining 9% year-on-year while air cargo volumes increased 21%, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).

SSCA spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha said Cambodia’s three international airports—Techo International Airport (KTI), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) and Sihanouk International Airport (KOS)—handled 3,712,639 passengers between January and July, down 9% compared with the same period last year.

Aircraft movements also edged down, with the three airports recording 37,248 take-offs and landings, a decline of 1% year-on-year.

In contrast, air cargo throughput reached 57,102 tonnes, representing a 21% increase, while overflight traffic rose 5% to 53,213 flights, reflecting continued growth in freight and regional air traffic.

According to the SSCA, Cambodia had 33 airlines operating in the country as of the week of July 27 to Aug. 2, including four domestic and 29 international carriers.

On average, Cambodia’s airports currently handle 1,124 scheduled flights per week, comprising 792 flights at Techo International Airport, 260 at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, 68 at Sihanouk International Airport and four at Dara Sakor International Airport.
