Cambodia-China Dialogue Vows Faster Solutions for Chinese Businesses
PHNOM PENH, Sept. 4, 2026 — Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing concerns raised by Chinese businesses promptly and appropriately, as the two countries held the second Cambodia-China Government-Private Sector Dialogue in Phnom Penh on Thursday.
The dialogue was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin, with more than 70 Chinese enterprises operating in Cambodia taking part.
The meeting focused on reviewing progress made since the first dialogue, updating participants on relevant policies and regulations, hearing concerns and recommendations from Chinese companies, and identifying follow-up measures to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation.
Sun Chanthol said he had listened closely to the concerns, challenges and practical needs raised by business representatives and pledged to work closely with relevant ministries and institutions to find appropriate and timely solutions.
The deputy prime minister also reiterated the Cambodian government’s commitment to eliminating technology-based fraud and creating a safe and trusted business environment for investors. Cambodia is scheduled to host an International Conference on Combating Online Scams on Sept. 23–24 in Phnom Penh as part of its efforts to strengthen cooperation against cross-border cybercrime.
Sun Chanthol further highlighted Cambodia’s investment-promotion efforts and said he would soon lead a delegation to Xiamen and Shenzhen, China, to attract additional investment and deepen economic cooperation.
Ambassador Wang Wenbin welcomed the progress made since the first dialogue, noting that many concerns raised by Chinese private-sector companies had been addressed promptly and effectively. He described the dialogue as an important mechanism for strengthening Cambodia-China economic cooperation and the two countries’ broader strategic partnership.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the results of the dialogue and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral trade, increasing investment, improving the business environment and delivering tangible economic benefits to both countries.
