BREAKING: Cambodia Firmly Rejects False Claims of Tank Movements, Reaffirms Commitment to Ceasefire and Regional Stability

Phnom Penh — 7 December 2025 — The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has issued a strong clarification in response to misleading reports circulating on Thai military and media platforms regarding alleged Cambodian military movements.

Her Excellency Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, stated that on the evening of 7 December 2025, Cambodia observed publications from the official page of Thailand’s Second Army Region and several Thai media outlets claiming that Cambodian forces had moved tanks in Samraong City, Oddar Meanchey Province.

The Ministry of National Defence categorically rejects these allegations and confirms the following:

– Claims that Cambodia deployed tanks are entirely untrue.
– Cambodian forces have conducted no actions that violate the ceasefire agreement or the Joint Declaration on Peace between Cambodia and Thailand.

According to the Press Release, Cambodia reiterated its strong and unequivocal commitment to fully respect and implement the ceasefire arrangements and peace commitments, and to continue close coordination at all levels with Thailand to promote stability, prevent misunderstanding, and restore normal relations as swiftly as possible.

The Ministry urged national and international media to rely on verified and official information and avoid amplifying unsubstantiated reports that could heighten regional tensions.
