VIENTIANE, June 24, 2026 – Cambodia and Laos have pledged to deepen agricultural cooperation, including expanding bilateral agricultural trade, strengthening supply chains and promoting Cambodian agricultural exports to international markets through Laos.

The commitment was made during a meeting between Cambodian Agriculture Minister Dith Tina and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone in Vientiane on Monday, according to Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture.

During the meeting, Dith Tina briefed the Lao prime minister on the outcomes of bilateral discussions between the two countries’ agriculture ministries, highlighting efforts to increase agricultural trade, strengthen private-sector partnerships and facilitate exports of Cambodian agricultural products to China through transit routes across Laos.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of linking Laos’ agricultural input supply, including fertiliser production, with Cambodia to support agricultural development and improve regional supply chains.

According to the Cambodian ministry, Sonexay welcomed the growing agricultural cooperation between the neighbouring countries and proposed expanding collaboration on joint conservation projects aimed at promoting the sustainable management of forests and wildlife.

The visit forms part of Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen agricultural cooperation with Laos, promote exports of key Cambodian agricultural products to international markets, enhance conservation initiatives and improve regional agricultural connectivity.
