Cambodia-Netherlands Trade Surpasses $1 Billion in 2025
PHNOM PENH, May 20, 2026 — Cambodia and the Netherlands pledged on Wednesday to deepen economic and trade cooperation after bilateral trade surpassed $1 billion in 2025, Cambodian officials said.
Prime Minister Hun Manet met Dutch Ambassador Remco Johannes van Wijngaarden at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh during the envoy’s farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
According to the Cambodian government, both sides welcomed the steady growth in bilateral relations, particularly in trade, investment and business cooperation.
The Dutch ambassador highlighted that two-way trade exceeded $1 billion in 2025, describing it as a significant milestone in economic relations between the two countries. He also thanked the Cambodian government for supporting Dutch companies operating in the country.
Hun Manet praised the ambassador’s role in strengthening bilateral cooperation and said Cambodia remained committed to creating a favorable business environment for foreign investors.
The two sides agreed to further promote business-to-business (B2B) connections through trade fairs, business visits and investment promotion activities aimed at expanding bilateral commerce and identifying new investment opportunities.
Hun Manet said Cambodia continued to introduce policies and mechanisms designed to improve competitiveness, predictability and investor confidence, while ensuring the success of existing foreign businesses in the country.
“The success of existing investors not only contributes to economic growth and job creation for Cambodian people, but also helps attract new investors to Cambodia,” the prime minister said, according to the statement.
The meeting also touched on regional and international cooperation, with both sides expressing support for international law and a rules-based international order.
Hun Manet additionally briefed the Dutch envoy on recent developments surrounding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, reiterating Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border disputes peacefully and in accordance with international law, treaties and existing bilateral agreements.
The Dutch ambassador said the Netherlands and the European Union support respect for international law and the maintenance of a rules-based international order, the Cambodian government said.
