Phnom Penh — 7 December 2025 — The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has issued a decisive statement confirming multiple serious armed incidents along the Cambodia–Thailand border, while firmly rejecting unfounded accusations and reaffirming Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to peace and international law.

According to Her Excellency Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, Thai military forces carried out successive armed attacks against Cambodian positions on 7 December 2025.

The first incident occurred between 14:15 and 14:32 in the Prorlean Thmar area, Choam Kshant District, Preah Vihear Province, where Thai forces opened fire on Cambodian troops. Cambodia categorically rejected Thailand’s subsequent allegations, stressing that Cambodian forces did not return fire at any time.

A second series of attacks was launched at approximately 20:02, when Thai troops fired multiple rounds from handguns toward Cambodian defensive lines in the O’ Phka Snaeh area. At 20:30, Thai forces resumed firing at the Prorlean Thmar position using handguns and heavy weapons, continuing until 20:50.

Throughout both incidents, Cambodian forces exercised maximum restraint and refrained entirely from retaliation, acting strictly in line with international law and the principles of peaceful conflict resolution.

Cambodia has formally notified the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) for the second time and will request an on-site independent investigation to establish facts and ensure transparency, impartiality, and accountability.

The Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm adherence to the ceasefire arrangements and the Joint Declaration on Peace between Cambodia and Thailand, emphasizing that Cambodia remains committed to resolving disputes exclusively through peaceful and lawful means, in accordance with international treaties and conventions.

“The Kingdom of Cambodia rejects threats or use of force. Sustainable peace cannot be achieved through violence,” the statement underscored.

The Ministry advised the public and international media to remain informed as Cambodia continues to act with restraint, responsibility, and commitment to regional stability.
