Cambodia, Türkiye Eye Expanded Trade, Security Cooperation
PHNOM PENH, June 22, 2026 – Türkiye’s newly appointed ambassador to Cambodia, Mesut Özcan, pledged on Monday to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across a range of sectors during a courtesy meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Özcan said he was honoured to assume his diplomatic post and praised the steady progress in relations between the two countries. He also thanked the Cambodian government and relevant institutions for their support in advancing bilateral cooperation.
The ambassador said he was committed to strengthening and broadening ties between Türkiye and Cambodia during his tenure, with a focus on expanding cooperation in multiple fields.
Hun Manet congratulated Özcan on his appointment and welcomed the continued growth of Cambodia-Türkiye relations, expressing confidence that bilateral ties would become stronger and more comprehensive during the ambassador’s tenure.
The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in key sectors, including the economy, investment, trade, security and defence, education, tourism and the environment.
Before concluding the meeting, Hun Manet encouraged the ambassador to maintain close engagement with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
