BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 28, 2026 — Cambodia’s Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn reaffirmed the importance of respecting international law and resolving disputes peacefully during the ASEAN–EU Ministerial Meeting, officials said.

Speaking at the 25th ASEAN–EU Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held on April 27–28 in Brunei, Prak Sokhonn highlighted growing global instability marked by intensifying geopolitical competition and renewed armed conflicts in various regions.

He stressed the need to uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-use of force, and peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law.

Cambodia’s position, he said, also underpins its approach to the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border.

Prak Sokhonn thanked ASEAN member states and the European Union for supporting the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as ongoing efforts to advance a peaceful resolution to the dispute.

The meeting brought together regional and European leaders to discuss cooperation and shared challenges amid an increasingly complex global landscape.
