Cambodia Wins Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination 2026
PHNOM PENH, Sept. 29, 2026 — Cambodia has been named Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination 2026 at the 33rd World Travel Awards, securing the regional title for the fifth consecutive year.
The award was announced during the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony held on Sept. 27 at CROSSROADS Maldives, coinciding with World Tourism Day.
The recognition extends Cambodia’s consecutive winning streak in the youth travel category. According to the World Travel Awards, Cambodia previously won Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Cambodia’s latest recognition highlights the country’s continued positioning as a destination for younger travellers, with its combination of cultural heritage, historical sites, nature, adventure activities and growing tourism infrastructure.
Angkor, one of Cambodia’s best-known attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage site, remains a major draw for international visitors, while destinations including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, coastal areas and the country’s nature-based tourism sites offer a range of experiences for younger travellers.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, recognises achievements across the global travel and tourism industry, including destinations, tourism organisations, hotels, airlines and other tourism businesses.
The 2026 Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean ceremony brought together travel and tourism leaders from across the region at CROSSROADS Maldives, with awards presented across a wide range of destination and hospitality categories.
Cambodia’s fifth consecutive youth travel award comes as the country continues efforts to strengthen its tourism sector and attract international visitors through cultural, heritage, adventure and community-based tourism offerings.
The latest World Travel Awards recognition adds another international accolade to Cambodia’s tourism profile and reinforces the country’s focus on attracting younger generations of travellers to its destinations.
