Cambodian Embassy in France Issues Travel Advisory on Transit Through Bangkok
Paris, 16 Decembger 2025 — The Royal Embassy of Cambodia to France has issued a formal travel advisory warning travelers bound for Cambodia of reported difficulties during air transit at Bangkok Airport, Thailand.
According to the advisory, the Embassy has received information that European passengers transiting through Bangkok have been subjected to excessive and unacceptable checks. These reportedly include prolonged interrogations prior to boarding, unreasonable demands for proof of financial resources, and detailed verification of accommodation reservations in Cambodia.
The Embassy further noted that, in some cases, these measures have been followed by incidents related to searches and baggage handling, resulting in the loss of checked luggage, which was only discovered upon arrival in Phnom Penh.
As a precautionary measure, travelers are strongly advised to consider travel itineraries that do not involve transit through Thailand and to opt for alternative airlines offering more appropriate and favorable transit conditions when traveling to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The Embassy clarified that the situations described occur outside Cambodian territory and do not fall under the responsibility of Cambodian authorities, though they may adversely affect travelers’ overall experience.
The Royal Embassy reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Cambodia remains a safe and welcoming destination for all visitors.
