SHANGHAI, 18 July 2026 — Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed China’s continued support for Cambodia’s socio-economic development, pledging to deepen bilateral cooperation and accelerate key development initiatives during talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The two leaders met in Shanghai on 17 July 2026, where Xi praised the strength of the Cambodia-China relationship and described the two countries as “ironclad friends.”

Xi said China remains committed to supporting Cambodia’s development by advancing cooperation under the “Diamond Hexagon” framework and accelerating the implementation of the Industrial and Technology Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor to promote sustained economic growth.

He also reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Hun Manet congratulated China on the successful hosting of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and thanked the Chinese government and people for their continued assistance in supporting Cambodia’s socio-economic development, infrastructure construction and improvements to people’s livelihoods.

The Cambodian prime minister also reiterated Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to the One-China policy, describing issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang as China’s internal affairs.

Hun Manet praised the continued growth of Cambodia-China relations, saying the two countries are working together to build an “all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era.”

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in key sectors, including politics and diplomacy, trade and investment, infrastructure connectivity, electricity, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, agriculture, defence and security.

Hun Manet also briefed Xi on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to resolving the dispute peacefully in accordance with international law and existing bilateral agreements between the two countries.
