BANGKOK, May 16, 2026 — Thai narcotics police have arrested five Malaysian suspects and seized 440 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine hidden inside four Malaysian-registered vehicles during a raid at a hotel in Nakhon Pathom Province, authorities said.

The operation on May 14 followed an investigation into an earlier seizure of 102 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine concealed inside a car speaker box earlier this month.

Thai police said investigators tracked a Malaysian-registered vehicle believed to be connected to the previous case after it crossed into Thailand through the Padang Besar checkpoint near the Malaysian border.

Officers from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau followed the vehicle to a hotel in Mueang district, Nakhon Pathom, where three additional Malaysian-registered vehicles later arrived.

Police said all five suspects were arrested as they prepared to leave the hotel in a convoy.

Authorities discovered 440 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine concealed inside the four vehicles and seized the cars as evidence.

The crackdown was conducted under directives from Royal Thai Police chief Kittirat Phanphet and supervised by the Narcotics Suppression Bureau under Lieutenant General Achayon Kraithong.

Police said investigators were continuing to examine financial transactions and trace assets linked to the trafficking network, while also searching for additional Thai and foreign accomplices suspected of involvement in logistics and transport operations.

Achayon said the arrests reflected Thailand’s strategy of targeting foreign criminal networks operating inside the country.

Thai authorities also said they would continue strengthening cooperation with international law enforcement agencies to prevent transnational drug syndicates from using Thailand as a regional base for trafficking activities.

The investigation remains ongoing.
