HANOI, June 9, 2026 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Vietnamese President To Lam agreed to further strengthen and expand bilateral relations and cooperation during talks in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The meeting took place during Prime Minister Hun Manet’s official visit to Vietnam and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum, held on June 8-9.

During the talks, President To Lam, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, praised Cambodia’s rapid socio-economic development and reaffirmed Vietnam’s support for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

The Vietnamese leader also recalled the positive outcomes of his state visit to Cambodia and his participation in a summit of political parties in Cambodia earlier this year. He emphasized the importance of further strengthening Cambodia-Vietnam relations, as well as expanding cooperation under the Cambodia-Vietnam-Laos framework.

President To Lam highlighted the need for continued collaboration within regional and international mechanisms to contribute to peace, stability and security in the region.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet congratulated Vietnam on hosting the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum, describing it as an important platform at a time of rapid global changes and increasing uncertainty.

The Cambodian premier expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of traditional ties between Cambodia and Vietnam and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to promoting cooperation under both the Cambodia-Vietnam bilateral framework and the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam trilateral mechanism for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

The two leaders also exchanged views on ways to expand cooperation in key sectors, including economic development, trade, security, national defense and people-to-people exchanges.

Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening connections between the younger generations of both countries, with both sides recognizing youth engagement as an important foundation for sustaining long-term friendship and cooperation.

The meeting formed part of a series of high-level engagements aimed at deepening strategic relations and advancing cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam across multiple sectors.
