Hun Manet Welcomes Seoul’s Support in Crackdown on Transnational Crime
Phnom Penh, Feb. 13, 2026 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday welcomed a message from South Korean President Lee Jae Myung highlighting cooperation between the two countries in combating transnational crime, particularly online scams.
In a statement posted on his official social media page, Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia’s “unwavering commitment” to fighting and eradicating transnational crimes, including online scams and other cyber-enabled offenses that threaten public safety and security.
He said such crimes are complex and borderless challenges that cannot be addressed by any single country alone, calling for strengthened regional and international cooperation.
Hun Manet also commended the Cambodia–Korea Joint Task Force for what he described as significant achievements in preventing and suppressing online scams.
Authorities in Cambodia have stepped up efforts in recent years to crack down on cybercrime networks, amid regional concerns over online fraud operations operating across Southeast Asia.
