Hun Sen Hails Lao Leader’s Re-election, Reaffirms Cambodia–Laos Strategic Friendship

Phnom Penh, 8 January 2026 — The Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has extended its warmest congratulations to H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith on his re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) at the 12th National Congress of the LPRP.

In a congratulatory message, Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People’s Party, hailed the re-election as a clear reflection of the strong confidence and trust placed by the LPRP and the people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith’s competence, wisdom, and visionary leadership in steering national development toward lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.
