PHNOM PENH, 1 July 2026 — India has pledged to continue supporting Cambodia’s armed forces through expanded training programmes and defence cooperation, reaffirming its readiness to respond to Cambodia’s military capacity-building needs.

The commitment was made by Colonel Adhishek Arora, India’s newly appointed defence attaché to Cambodia, during a courtesy meeting with Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) Commander-in-Chief General Vong Pisen on June 30.

Vong Pisen thanked India for its continued support in developing Cambodia’s military personnel through specialised training programmes and praised the successful completion of the second Cambodia-India joint military exercise in 2026, saying it had strengthened cooperation and operational capabilities between the two armed forces.

He also called on India to continue supporting military training, exchanges at all levels, intelligence sharing, efforts to combat transnational crime, disaster relief cooperation, peacekeeping operations, demining, cooperation among military branches, joint exercises and naval port visits.

Arora welcomed the opportunity to serve in Cambodia and commended the strong defence relationship between the two countries. He said India remained committed to supporting Cambodia’s requests for military training and capacity building in line with its practical needs.

He added that India’s advanced defence industry also has the capability to support Cambodia with defence technology and equipment, including demining equipment and reconnaissance drones.
