PATTAYA, April 11, 2026 — Thai police are investigating a reported theft involving an Indian tourist who said cash worth about 25,000 baht ($680) was taken from his hotel room in Pattaya, authorities said.

The incident was reported shortly after 1 a.m. on April 11 to Pattaya City Police Station. The 59-year-old tourist, identified as Chandra, told investigators he lost 5,000 baht in Thai currency along with $300 and €300.

According to police, the tourist said he had met an individual at Pattaya Beach and later returned to his hotel room together. After the individual left, he discovered the money was missing and sought assistance.

Hotel staff said the man alerted security, who attempted to locate the person believed to be involved.

Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding area to establish the sequence of events.

Authorities said the identity of the suspect has not yet been confirmed and emphasized that all evidence, including witness accounts and surveillance footage, will be examined as part of the inquiry.

The case is the latest in a series of incidents involving tourists in Pattaya, prompting authorities to reiterate advice for visitors to remain cautious and safeguard their belongings.
