More Than 100 Detained in Bangkok Casino Raids
BANGKOK, April 26, 2026 — Thai authorities raided two illegal gambling dens in Bangkok on Saturday, arresting more than 100 people and seizing cash and equipment worth millions of baht, officials said, in a widening crackdown on underground betting networks.
The operation was carried out by a special task force from the Department of Provincial Administration targeting organised gambling venues concealed inside warehouse-style properties.
In the first raid, officers stormed a site on Hathai Rat Road in Bangkok’s Khlong Sam Wa district, where they found 63 gamblers — 33 men and 30 women.
Authorities seized more than 300,000 baht ($8,000) in cash along with gambling tables, playing cards, fish-shooting arcade machines and other equipment. Suspects were transferred to Nimit Mai Police Station.
A second raid at a former petrol station site in Seri Thai area of Bueng Kum district led to the arrest of 41 people, including 21 men and 20 women.
Police also confiscated about 50,000 baht in cash and additional gambling equipment. Those detained were handed to Bueng Kum Police Station for legal action.
Officials said the Hathai Rat venue had been under surveillance after complaints from local residents.
Investigators found the property had been rented in late 2025 under the pretext of warehouse storage before being converted into a gambling den operating around the clock with controlled access.
Authorities said the site was a sophisticated operation featuring air conditioning, multiple forms of gambling including online betting, and an organised system for rotating players. They estimated daily cash circulation at around 1 million baht.
Officials said similar dens continue to operate across Bangkok and warned that further raids would follow under government orders to intensify action against illegal gambling.
Investigations are continuing to identify organisers, financiers and any property owners linked to the operations.
