PATTAYA, 2 July 2026 — A Russian tourist has reported that more than 10,000 baht was stolen from his wallet after he paid for sexual services from two ladyboys at a hotel near Pattaya’s Walking Street, prompting police to detain two suspects for questioning.

The incident occurred at about 5:10 a.m. on July 1, when motorcycle patrol officers from Pattaya City Police Station responded to the tourist’s complaint. Police said the man told officers he had agreed to pay 3,000 baht for sexual services before later discovering that about 10,000 baht in cash was missing.

The tourist asked police to review the hotel’s CCTV footage to help identify those involved. Officers examined the scene, collected evidence and coordinated with Pattaya City officials as part of the investigation.

Police later detained two people in connection with the case. One was identified from a passport as Phouangmalay Louanephilavan, a Lao national, while the second, identified from a Thai national identity card as Phlai, is a Thai national. Both were taken to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage showing movements into and out of the hotel and are collecting forensic evidence to establish the circumstances of the alleged theft. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities reminded both Thai and foreign visitors to safeguard their valuables and warned that purchasing sexual services may violate Thai law and increase the risk of theft, fraud and other crimes. Police said charges, if any, will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
