PHNOM PENH, Feb 21, 2026 — Cambodia’s Siem Reap has ranked fifth among Asia’s best cultural destinations for 2026, placing ahead of Thailand’s capital Bangkok, according to Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards “Best of the Best” list.

The ranking, based on global traveler reviews and ratings over the past year, placed Singapore first, followed by Hanoi, Kyoto and Bali. Siem Reap secured the fifth spot, ahead of Seoul, Beijing, Bangkok, New Delhi and Hoi An.

The result marks a notable achievement for Cambodia’s tourism sector, as Siem Reap — home to the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park — continues to draw international visitors seeking heritage, history and cultural experiences.

Bangkok, long regarded as one of Southeast Asia’s leading tourism hubs, ranked eighth on the list.

Siem Reap’s position reflects a strong recovery in Cambodia’s tourism industry following pandemic-related disruptions. The city serves as the gateway to Angkor Wat, the 12th-century temple complex widely considered the largest religious monument in the world and a symbol of Cambodian identity.

Tourism officials have in recent years invested in infrastructure upgrades, including the opening of the new Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport, aimed at boosting international arrivals and improving connectivity.

Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice “Best of the Best” awards are determined by the volume and quality of reviews and ratings from travelers worldwide over a 12-month period, placing recipients among the top destinations globally.

The recognition underscores Siem Reap’s growing profile as a premier cultural destination in Asia, surpassing regional competitors and reinforcing Cambodia’s standing in the international tourism market.
