South Korean Tourist Found Dead in Sea Near Koh Larn, Pattaya
PATTAYA, May 25, 2026 — Thai authorities are investigating the death of a man believed to be a South Korean tourist after his body was found floating face-down in the sea near Koh Sak, north of Koh Larn, off the coast of Pattaya on Monday morning.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Kriengkrai Kaewphibun, deputy investigator at Pattaya City Police Station, said officers received the report at around 10:00 a.m. and coordinated with marine rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and Pattaya’s Marine Disaster Prevention Unit to reach the scene by rescue boat.
Rescuers recovered the body of a foreign man estimated to be around 50 years old. He was wearing a white collared polo shirt with black trim and green shorts.
Authorities said there were no obvious external injuries on the body, which was believed to have remained in the water for at least six hours before being discovered.
Investigators recovered several personal belongings from the deceased, including a wallet containing a South Korean driver’s license, three South Korean ATM cards and a hotel room key. All items were collected as evidence.
Lt. Col. Kriengkrai said police are working urgently to confirm the man’s identity and contact relevant agencies, including South Korean authorities if necessary.
The body has been transferred to the Police General Hospital’s forensic institute in Bangkok for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
