Imported EVs in Thailand Could Cost ฿200,000 More
BANGKOK, October 20, 2026 — Thailand’s Finance Ministry is preparing to raise excise tax on fully imported electric vehicles (EVs) to at least 30% from January 1, 2027, a move that could increase the price of some imported models by at least ฿200,000 and encourage automakers to manufacture vehicles locally.
