Thailand Arrests Two Chinese Men in Alleged Call-Center Scam Operation
PATTAYA, Feb 10, 2026 — Thai cybercrime police arrested two Chinese nationals in Pattaya after raiding a condominium believed to be used as a base for online scam operations, authorities said on Tuesday.
The raid in Pattaya, Chonburi province followed intelligence that a group of Chinese nationals had set up a covert operation linked to call-center fraud and one-time password (OTP) interception schemes, police said.
Officers seized 26 mobile phones, two laptop computers, an internet router, handwritten notebooks and 103,400 baht ($2,900) in cash. Many of the phones displayed Chinese-language messages and frequent Telegram notifications, investigators said.
The suspects, identified as Liu Meng, 39, and Shao Zhong, 49, refused to provide passwords to the devices, claiming they did not own them. Police said the equipment would undergo forensic examination.
The men were initially charged with immigration offenses, including visa overstay and failure to report a change of residence. Authorities said the investigation would expand to trace financial links and identify additional suspects.
