U.S. Funds Shelter Aid for Cambodians Affected by Thai Conflict
PHNOM PENH, June 18, 2026 – The United States, through the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has expanded humanitarian assistance to Cambodian families affected by the border conflict with Thailand, providing shelter repair materials to hundreds of households in Oddar Meanchey province.
The IOM said 239 additional families in Oddar Meanchey have received shelter repair kits funded by the U.S. government through the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia. The assistance is intended to help families rebuild or repair homes damaged during the border conflict and restore safe and dignified living conditions.
The organization said the programme focuses on supporting households whose homes were affected by fighting along the Cambodia-Thailand border and forms part of broader early recovery efforts for affected communities.
Following the distribution in Oddar Meanchey, the next phase of the programme will be extended to Banteay Meanchey province, where an estimated 700 to 800 additional families are expected to receive shelter assistance.
The IOM said it remains committed to supporting communities affected by the conflict and helping vulnerable families rebuild their homes and livelihoods through early recovery assistance.
The United States has been among several international partners providing humanitarian support to civilians affected by the recent border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.
