His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia
Phnom Penh, 22 December 2025 — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia has reaffirmed the country’s genuine and unwavering commitment to the agreed ceasefire, underscoring Cambodia’s restraint and adherence to peace despite continued provocations.
In a statement issued on 22 December 2025, His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, stated that Cambodia deliberately refrained from responding for more than 24 hours after coming under attack on 7 December 2025, in order to uphold the ceasefire and prevent further escalation.
H.E. PRAK Sokhonn expressed deep disappointment over the failure to implement ceasefire proposals put forward by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 9, 11, and 13 December 2025, as well as the proposal advanced by U.S. President Donald J. Trump on 12 December 2025. He stressed that Cambodia accepted all these initiatives without hesitation, demonstrating its sincere dedication to de-escalation and peaceful resolution.
The Cambodian Foreign Minister further called upon Malaysia and the United States to deploy available capabilities, including satellite assets, to assist in monitoring and verifying compliance with the ceasefire, in order to ensure transparency, accountability, and credibility in the implementation process.
The statement highlights Cambodia’s consistent position in favor of peace, restraint, and international cooperation, and reinforces its appeal for objective monitoring mechanisms to safeguard the ceasefire and prevent further deterioration of the situation.
