China Encourages Dialogue and Confidence-Building Following Cambodia–Thailand Ceasefire
Yunnan, 29 December 2025 — The People’s Republic of China has warmly welcomed the recent development in which, through the joint efforts of all parties, the Cambodian and Thai armed forces reached a ceasefire agreement, marking an important and positive step toward the restoration of peace.
Speaking during a meeting with His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi underscored the importance of both sides advancing prudently and step by step toward a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that Cambodia and Thailand should continue efforts to resume normal exchanges, rebuild mutual trust, and promote a positive turnaround in bilateral relations, thereby contributing to the maintenance of regional peace and stability.
He further called on all parties to jointly send a clear message of peace from Yunnan, stressing the need to build consensus on peace and to demonstrate tangible prospects for long-term stability through dialogue and cooperation.
China reaffirmed its support for peaceful solutions through diplomacy, constructive engagement, and regional cooperation, highlighting its readiness to continue playing a supportive and facilitative role in efforts aimed at sustaining peace and stability in Southeast Asia.
