ODDAR MEANCHEY, 15 January 2026 — Cambodia and Thailand held a Regional Border Committee (RBC) meeting on Thursday to discuss the implementation of recent bilateral agreements aimed at maintaining peace and stability along their shared border, Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said.

The meeting took place on the morning of Jan. 15 at the Choam–Sa Ngam International Point of Entry in Anlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province, involving representatives from Military Region 4 of Cambodia and Army Area 2 of Thailand, according to a statement by the ministry.

The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nit Narong, deputy chief of staff of Military Region 4, while the Thai side was headed by Major General Kampanat Waphansu, chief of staff of Army Area 2.

Discussions focused on strengthening the implementation of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) held on Dec. 27, 2025, as well as other relevant bilateral documents, the statement said.

Cambodia reaffirmed its “firm, resolute and sincere commitment” to respecting and implementing the GBC joint statement, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand dated Oct. 26, 2025, and other existing treaties and agreements.

The ministry said the talks were aimed at seeking a peaceful, just and lasting solution in accordance with international law and bilateral commitments between the two countries.
