Thai police seize nearly 5 million meth pills after truck chase

BANGKOK, Jan 27, 2026 — Police in Thailand have arrested the driver of a 10-wheel cargo truck and seized nearly five million methamphetamine pills following a pursuit in Lopburi, authorities said on Tuesday.

The suspect was detained after attempting to flee police and driving the truck into a canal, causing it to overturn. Officers recovered about 4.7 million methamphetamine pills hidden among agricultural produce in the vehicle, police said.

The drugs and seized assets, including the truck, were valued at around 150 million baht ($4.2 million), according to police.

The suspect has been charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic for sale. Police said the case is linked to a major drug trafficking network with international distribution routes.

Authorities said investigations are continuing to identify other members of the network.
