PHNOM PENH, Jan 27, 2026 — A senior Cambodian official on Wednesday categorically rejected reports by some Thai media outlets and social media accounts alleging that Tea Banh, senior adviser to the King of Cambodia, had contacted Thailand to request a halt to the conflict, calling the claims baseless and entirely false.

The official said the reports falsely alleged that Tea Banh had appealed to Thai authorities to stop military action against Cambodia and had fabricated audio content attributed to him, including claims that Cambodian leaders had “raised the white flag” or surrendered.

“These allegations are completely untrue and bear no resemblance to reality,” the senior official said, adding that Tea Banh has never contacted any Thai party nor made any statements of the kind reported.

The official said Cambodia, as a responsible state that respects the rule of law, consistently prioritises dialogue and diplomacy, but only on the basis of truth, equality and mutual respect. Cambodia remains firmly committed to resolving disputes peacefully in accordance with international law, while resolutely safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national dignity, the official said.

The official added that Tea Banh has consistently upheld a clear and unwavering position in support of peaceful conflict resolution, grounded in the principles of the United Nations Charter and ASEAN norms, and has fully supported the implementation of ceasefire arrangements and related agreements.

As a veteran of decades of conflict and a key figure in Cambodia’s long path toward peace and national reconciliation, Tea Banh remains committed to pursuing just, lawful and lasting peaceful solutions, the official said, while encouraging practical cooperation to promote stability and a swift return to normalcy between the two countries.
