Cambodia’s ARDB says it has no links to USDT

PHNOM PENH, Jan 28, 2026 — Cambodia’s Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) said on Wednesday it has no involvement with Tether USD (USDT), rejecting what it described as misleading reports linking the state-owned bank to the cryptocurrency.

In a statement, ARDB said it has never engaged in trading, transferring or promoting the use of USDT for payments, investment or the purchase of goods and services.

The bank said recent reports circulating online had falsely associated ARDB’s business activities with USDT, causing confusion among customers and the public.

ARDB said it strictly complies with laws and regulations issued by the National Bank of Cambodia and relevant financial authorities governing cryptoassets, and regularly cooperates with authorities to prevent financial crimes.

The bank said it reserves the right to take legal action against individuals or entities disseminating false information that harms its reputation or causes financial or reputational damage to the institution and its management.

ARDB also called on authorities to continue cracking down on the spread of false information to maintain public confidence in Cambodia’s banking system.
