PHNOM PENH, Jan 28, 2026 — Cambodia collected more than $6.7 billion in tax and customs revenue in 2025, exceeding the target set under the national budget law, government data showed on Wednesday.

Under the 2025 budget, the government had planned to raise 26.418 trillion riels ($6.5 billion) in combined tax and customs revenue to finance public spending.

The General Department of Taxation said tax revenue alone reached more than 14.345 trillion riels ($3.58 billion) in 2025, up more than 3%, or about $112 million, compared with 2024.

Meanwhile, customs and excise revenue stood at nearly $3.2 billion, exceeding the annual target by 24%, Kun Nhim, Director-General of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, said on Jan 27. He added that the figure was comparable to pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019.

For 2026, the government has set a revenue target of 25.341 trillion riels ($6.3 billion), including 13.292 trillion riels ($3.3 billion) from taxation and 12.049 trillion riels ($3.0 billion) from customs and excise duties.

Cambodia has been seeking to strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation as part of broader fiscal consolidation and economic recovery efforts.
