Cambodia thanks Malaysia for role in ceasefire, border talks
PHNOM PENH, Jan 28, 2026 — Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn held talks with Mohamad Hasan, Malaysia’s foreign minister, during a pull-aside meeting on Wednesday, Cambodia’s foreign ministry said.
During the meeting, Prak Sokhonn expressed Cambodia’s appreciation for Malaysia’s role in facilitating a ceasefire and promoting a peaceful resolution of border issues between Cambodia and Thailand.
Prak Sokhonn also congratulated Malaysia on what he described as successful outcomes during its tenure as ASEAN chair in 2025, noting that Kuala Lumpur’s leadership had contributed to regional stability and economic growth.
The two ministers discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination on regional issues, the statement said.
