ODDAR MEANCHEY, Jan 29, 2026 — Three Cambodian civilians were injured on Thursday after a cluster bomblet exploded in Oddar Meanchey province, Cambodia’s mine action authority said.

Heng Ratana, Director-General of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), said the blast occurred in the morning in Bus Thom village, Kok Kpos commune, Banteay Ampil district, along National Road 58.

The explosion happened when workers from a private company were carrying out electricity network operations and accidentally stepped on an unexploded cluster bomblet, a remnant of past conflict, Heng Ratana said. Three workers were wounded, suffering injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Heng Ratana urged residents, private companies and state institutions operating in conflict-affected areas to coordinate closely with local authorities or CMAC teams on the ground to prevent further accidents caused by unexploded ordnance.
