Cambodia, Thailand fail to reach agreement in another RBC talks
ODDAR MEANCHEY, Feb. 2, 2026 — Cambodia and Thailand concluded a Regional Border Committee (RBC) meeting on Monday without reaching a consensus, agreeing to continue negotiations and document exchanges, Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said.
The meeting, held at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Point of Entry, involved Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Army Area 2 and was observed by the ASEAN Observer Team, according to a statement by ministry spokesperson Maly Socheata.
As no common ground was reached, both sides agreed to return to their respective headquarters to continue negotiations. A formal signing ceremony and a follow-up meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Military Region Border Committee will be held once consensus is achieved, the statement said.
The special meeting was conducted under the framework of the Joint Statement of the third Special Meeting of the General Border Committee held on Dec. 27, 2025.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement previous agreements and to continue efforts to reduce border tensions and promote regional peace and stability.
