PHNOM PENH, Feb. 10, 2026 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said on Tuesday that border issues require continuous and active management, acknowledging public anxiety while insisting the government remains committed to protecting national sovereignty and citizens.

“Some developments do not unfold as we wish. They create psychological pressure and fear,” Hun Manet said, referring to Cambodia–Thailand border issues. He stressed, however, that the government had not abandoned its responsibility to safeguard territorial integrity, people’s lives and public welfare, particularly residents in border areas and displaced persons.

Speaking at the Peace Palace during a meeting with more than 3,000 top-performing high school graduates and vocational students, Hun Manet said border management was not a one-off commitment but a sustained, proactive effort.

He declined to provide details on specific measures, citing the sensitivity of the unresolved situation, but said that since the first outbreak of armed clashes, the government had consistently treated territory and citizens as its highest priority.

Hun Manet acknowledged that people may feel hurt or angry and express differing views, but said all government actions were taken in the national and public interest.
