Chinese Investment Has Created Over One Million Jobs in Cambodia, Envoy Says
Phnom Penh, Feb. 9, 2026 — Chinese investment in Cambodia has created more than one million jobs and is making a significant contribution to sustainable economic growth and trade expansion, China’s ambassador to Cambodia said on Monday.
Wang Wenbin made the remarks during the first Cambodia–China public-private dialogue aimed at addressing challenges and improving the investment and business environment in Cambodia.
The meeting was co-chaired with Sun Chanthol, first vice-chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and brought together around 80 representatives from Chinese companies, along with officials from relevant Cambodian ministries and agencies.
Wang said the dialogue would help remove obstacles faced by investors and encourage more Chinese enterprises to expand their presence in Cambodia, strengthening bilateral economic and trade ties.
Sun Chanthol said the forum reflected the Cambodian government’s strong commitment to listening to Chinese investors and resolving their concerns to boost cooperation in trade, investment and industry, while building confidence within the Chinese business community.
Discussions covered taxation, customs, logistics, energy, agriculture, agro-industry and labour. Cambodian officials said the dialogue would be held every six months, noting that China remains Cambodia’s largest investor and trading partner.
