Phnom Penh, Feb. 10, 2026 — Cambodian national security officials on Tuesday rejected claims by Thailand that Cambodia has reinforced its military along the border, calling the allegations false and misleading.

The denial followed a Feb. 8 report by the Thai newspaper The Nation Thailand, which cited Thai officials as warning of a possible “third round” of border conflict and alleged a significant Cambodian military buildup.

The report claimed Cambodia had acquired advanced air defence weapons to counter Thailand’s long-standing air superiority, but provided no details on the source of the weapons or the timing of their deployment.

Thai officials quoted in the report described the alleged activity as a “worrying” increase in military operations along the border, particularly after Thailand’s general election on Feb. 8.

Cambodian officials dismissed the claims in their entirety. A senior national security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Cambodia remained firmly committed to the joint statement adopted at the third special meeting of the General Border Committee and continued to strictly observe a ceasefire to maintain peace and stability along the frontier.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated that Cambodia would pursue a peaceful resolution to the current border dispute through existing mechanisms, including the Joint Border Commission, adding that Phnom Penh was prepared to resume talks once Thailand’s new government is formed.
