Phnom Penh, Feb. 10, 2026 — A senior Cambodian official on Tuesday reiterated Cambodia’s position that disputes with Thailand would be resolved peacefully through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms based on respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law.

Ly Thuch, senior minister and first vice president of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), made the remarks during a meeting at the authority’s headquarters with Vladanka Andreeva, the United Nations resident coordinator in Cambodia.

The meeting focused on strengthening partnership and cooperation in the field of mine action.

Ly Thuch welcomed Andreeva to her new role and praised the United Nations for its long-standing support to Cambodia’s peacebuilding and socio-economic recovery, including assistance with refugee resettlement, mine clearance and capacity building in the mine action sector.

He described the United Nations as an important voice and partner in advancing Cambodia’s mine action efforts, while also thanking development partners and friendly countries for their continued support.

Cambodia remains one of the countries most affected by landmines and explosive remnants of war, a legacy of decades of conflict.
