Cambodia Reports 5.3% Rise in Agriculture Output in 2025
PHNOM PENH, March 19, 2026 — Cambodia’s agricultural sector grew by 5.3% in 2025 compared with the previous year, despite the impact of natural disasters, according to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
The ministry said the sector has maintained steady positive growth in recent years, contributing to economic expansion and poverty reduction, even as output has fluctuated in the past.
Gross value added in agriculture rose to 33.149 trillion riel (about $8 billion), marking a 5.93% increase year-on-year, supported by crop production, livestock and fisheries.
Crop output, particularly rice and mixed farming, continued to ensure domestic food security while supporting processing industries and exports. Cambodia exported more than 15 million tonnes of agricultural products in 2025, exceeding domestic consumption needs.
Authorities said interventions helped stabilise rice prices for farmers and prevent post-harvest losses, while efforts to expand market access boosted export performance.
Livestock production met around 98% of domestic meat demand, supported by increased private investment in farms, feed production and modern slaughterhouses, alongside strengthened food safety measures.
Fisheries and aquaculture output rose by about 10%, with further expansion driven by cooperation with development partners and the private sector. The government also promoted alternative livelihoods to reduce pressure on natural fishery resources.
Officials added that enforcement efforts against illegal logging, wildlife crime and land encroachment have been strengthened, while reforestation and tree planting initiatives are being expanded with private sector participation.
