Hun Sen Meets CICA Chief, Highlights Role in Regional Peace
PHNOM PENH, March 31, 2026 — Cambodia’s acting head of state Hun Sen met with Kairat Sarybay, Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), to discuss cooperation and regional peace efforts.
The meeting took place at the Senate’s Peace Palace, where Hun Sen welcomed the visiting delegation and highlighted Cambodia’s commitment to promoting peace and security at both regional and global levels.
According to officials, Hun Sen underscored the importance of CICA in strengthening dialogue, trust and cooperation among Asian countries, noting its role in enhancing connectivity between Southeast Asia and Central Asia.
Sarybay expressed appreciation for Cambodia’s active engagement in international cooperation and praised Hun Sen’s leadership in advancing peace, both domestically and on the global stage.
He also highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation between Cambodia and CICA members in areas such as tourism, education and trade, as part of broader efforts to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties.
Cambodia has played an increasingly active role in regional and international platforms, including ASEAN and CICA, positioning itself as a contributor to peacebuilding and cooperation initiatives across Asia.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Phnom Penh to deepen international partnerships and reinforce its role in promoting stability and connectivity in the region.
