Hun Many Leads Nationwide Aid Effort for Displaced Citizens Ahead of Sangkran
PHNOM PENH, April 1, 2026 — Cambodia’s leadership has stepped up visible, nationwide support for displaced citizens, as Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many led a large-scale humanitarian mission to 12 displacement sites ahead of Sangkran (Khmer New Year), reinforcing the government’s commitment to protect and care for its people amid ongoing border-related challenges.
In a coordinated effort involving state institutions, youth volunteers and private sector partners, the delegation delivered essential aid, organized communal meals and brought cultural performances directly to affected communities — ensuring that even those displaced by conflict are not left behind during the country’s most important national celebration.
The initiative forms part of broader, sustained government action to support displaced families following tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border. Authorities have already mobilized resources to provide temporary shelter, food supplies, healthcare access and livelihood support, while continuing diplomatic and security efforts to stabilize the situation and enable safe returns.
Held under the theme “Standing with the Nation, Armed Forces and Displaced People at All Times,” the outreach sends a clear message: the Cambodian government remains present, responsive and fully committed to its citizens in times of difficulty.
Officials emphasized that this is not a one-off gesture but part of a continuous national response — combining humanitarian relief, cultural preservation and long-term recovery planning.
“This reflects the principle that no Cambodian is abandoned,” officials said, pointing to ongoing measures including relocation support, infrastructure preparation at temporary sites and coordination with relevant ministries to ensure dignity and safety for affected families.
The inclusion of traditional games, music and shared meals highlighted efforts not only to provide material support but also to restore morale, unity and national pride among displaced communities.
The government has reiterated that all displaced citizens will eventually be able to return home once conditions are fully stabilized, underscoring continued diplomatic engagement and adherence to peaceful resolutions.
The outreach stands as a strong demonstration of state responsibility, national solidarity and leadership at a time when unity and resilience remain critical for Cambodia’s stability and future.
