SIHANOUKVILLE, April 8, 2026 — Cambodia has welcomed two Russian warships to its southern coast for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening defence cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Seiha received the vessels — the Sovershenny (No. 333) and the Rezky (No. 343) — at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, where they docked as part of a goodwill mission.

The ships, part of Russia’s Pacific Fleet, arrived with a crew of approximately 262 personnel.

Officials said the visit is intended to promote long-standing ties and expand military cooperation between Cambodia and Russia, including potential collaboration in training and joint exercises.

Tea Seiha expressed hope that Russia would continue to support Cambodia’s armed forces and deepen bilateral defence engagement, particularly in capacity building and future joint drills.

The visit underscores growing defence relations between the two countries, which have maintained close cooperation in various sectors over the years.
