Macron to Visit Cambodia in November for Francophonie Summit
PHNOM PENH, April 9, 2026 — French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Cambodia in November to attend the Francophonie Summit, signaling a further strengthening of ties between the two countries.
The planned visit was announced by Macron following his meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Paris.
Macron thanked Hun Manet for participating in the One Health Summit held in Lyon and for bilateral discussions in the French capital.
“Between Cambodia and France, our shared history is deep and continues to grow stronger, particularly in the areas of energy, health and heritage,” Macron said in a statement.
He added that cooperation through the Francophonie remains a key pillar of relations, noting that the next summit, following the 2024 meeting in Villers-Cotterêts, will be hosted in Phnom Penh.
Macron said he would be “pleased” to visit Cambodia for the occasion, describing it as an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
The visit is expected to underscore expanding cooperation between Cambodia and France across multiple sectors, as well as their shared commitment within the Francophonie framework.
