Unlicensed Pattaya Clinic Offering Joint Treatments Raided by Police
PATTAYA, April 24, 2026 — Thai police and public health officials have raided an unlicensed medical clinic in Pattaya, detaining staff members and a doctor after authorities said the facility was operating without proper authorisation.
The operation took place on April 23 at the Rak Khao Clinic branch in central Pattaya after officials received reports of suspected illegal medical services, authorities said.
Investigators from Provincial Police Region 2 and the Chon Buri Provincial Public Health Office inspected the premises, which advertised specialised treatment for bone and joint conditions, including non-surgical therapies and methods claiming to slow osteoarthritis.
Several patients were waiting for treatment when officers entered the clinic.
Authorities said staff were unable to produce a valid operating licence for the medical facility during the inspection.
The doctor treating patients was found to hold a legitimate medical licence but told investigators he believed the clinic itself had proper authorisation.
One patient said they found the clinic through Facebook and had purchased a treatment package worth 250,000 baht (about $6,800). The patient said they had completed nine sessions and experienced gradual improvement in knee and joint pain.
The patient added they were less concerned about the clinic’s licensing status as long as the doctor was qualified.
Police detained three clinic employees along with the doctor and transferred them to Bang Lamung Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings under Thailand’s medical facility laws.
Officials urged the public to verify both practitioner credentials and clinic licences before seeking treatment, stressing that legal compliance is necessary to ensure patient safety and proper standards of care.
Authorities said inspections of private clinics and healthcare businesses would continue as part of a wider effort to curb illegal operations.
