Cambodia Shows Military Attachés Area Blocked by Thai Forces
PHNOM PENH, April 28, 2026 — Cambodia’s defence ministry on Tuesday facilitated a visit by foreign military attachés to a border checkpoint in western Cambodia where Thai forces have reportedly erected barriers, as Phnom Penh reiterated its commitment to resolving disputes peacefully.
The visit, part of the Second Annual Tour for the Military Attachés Corps in Phnom Penh (MACPP), took place at Chey Chomneas Border Checkpoint in Pursat province, an area where Cambodian authorities say Thai troops have blocked access using containers and barbed wire.
Officials said the tour aimed to provide international military representatives with a direct observation of the situation on the ground.
The Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed that Cambodia remains firmly committed to addressing all border issues through peaceful means, in line with international law and existing bilateral agreements.
It also stressed adherence to the Joint Statement reached during the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on Dec. 27, 2025.
The move comes amid ongoing efforts to maintain stability and transparency along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
