Cambodia’s Koh Rong Ranks Among World’s Top 10 Beaches
PHNOM PENH, May 4, 2026 — Cambodia’s Koh Rong has been ranked among the world’s top beaches, placing ninth in the latest “World’s 50 Best Beaches” list, boosting the country’s profile as a rising coastal tourism destination.
The island, located off the coast of Preah Sihanouk province, was recognised for its white sand beaches, clear turquoise waters and relatively unspoiled natural environment.
The ranking places Koh Rong alongside leading global destinations, including top-ranked beaches in the Philippines, Greece and Australia, underscoring growing international interest in Southeast Asia’s coastal attractions.
Tourism officials say the recognition highlights Cambodia’s expanding appeal beyond its cultural landmarks, with beach destinations playing an increasingly important role in attracting international visitors.
Koh Rong has seen steady development in recent years, with improved transport links and accommodation options, while authorities have also emphasised sustainable tourism to preserve its natural beauty.
The listing is expected to support Cambodia’s broader tourism strategy, which aims to diversify destinations and strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the global travel market.
