CEBU, May 7, 2026 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung pledged to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across multiple sectors during talks on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines, Cambodian officials said.

The meeting took place on Thursday in Cebu during the regional summit attended by Southeast Asian leaders.

According to Cambodia’s government, Le Minh Hung thanked Hun Manet for sending congratulations following his appointment as Vietnam’s prime minister and praised the continued progress in Cambodia-Vietnam relations.

The Vietnamese leader said Hanoi remains firmly committed to deepening cooperation and achieving further positive outcomes in bilateral ties in the years ahead.

Both sides discussed the development of cooperation across political, economic and regional frameworks, reflecting the close relationship between the neighbouring countries.

Cambodian officials said Hun Manet welcomed the growing momentum in bilateral engagement and reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to continue strengthening cooperation with Vietnam.

During the meeting, Le Minh Hung also invited Hun Manet to pay another official visit to Vietnam, underscoring efforts by both governments to maintain high-level exchanges and political dialogue.

Cambodia and Vietnam maintain extensive cooperation in trade, investment, border affairs, connectivity and regional security, while both countries are active members of ASEAN and several regional economic frameworks.
