PATTAYA, May 16, 2026 — Thai police are investigating the robbery of a Swedish tourist who reported losing cash and foreign currency worth more than 100,000 baht after inviting two Thai transgender women to his condominium in Pattaya.

The victim, identified as 67-year-old Mahmoud, filed a complaint with Mueang Pattaya Police Station at around 3.40 a.m. on May 15.

According to police, the incident took place at the My View Condotel after the tourist met two individuals while visiting entertainment venues on Pattaya Walking Street.

Investigators said an argument reportedly broke out inside the condominium before one of the suspects allegedly stole the key to the tourist’s safe and fled with cash in several currencies.

The stolen money reportedly included 67,500 baht, 800 euros, 2,000 Swedish krona and 8 million Vietnamese dong, with the combined value estimated at about 111,000 baht.

Police officers travelled to the condominium shortly after receiving the report and launched an investigation, but no arrests had been made at the time of reporting.

Authorities said they were reviewing evidence and attempting to identify and locate the suspects involved.

The case adds to a series of theft incidents in Pattaya involving tourists and transgender suspects, drawing renewed attention to visitor safety in the popular nightlife destination.

Police have urged tourists to exercise caution when bringing strangers back to private accommodation while investigations continue.
