Cambodia Imports From Thailand Fall Nearly 41% in Early 2026
PHNOM PENH, May 17, 2026 — Cambodia’s imports from Thailand fell nearly 41% during the first four months of 2026, according to new figures released by Cambodia’s General Department of Customs and Excise.
The data showed Cambodia imported goods worth about $690 million from Thailand between January and April, down 40.8% from the same period in 2025.
Overall bilateral trade between the two neighbouring countries reached approximately $925 million during the four-month period, a decline of 38% year-on-year, the report said.
Cambodian exports to Thailand totalled more than $234 million, down 28% compared with the same period last year.
In comparison, bilateral trade during the first four months of 2025 exceeded $1.4 billion, including more than $327 million in Cambodian exports to Thailand and around $1.1 billion in imports from Thailand.
Cambodia’s major exports to international markets include garments, textiles, footwear, travel goods, rice, cassava, cashew nuts, rubber, furniture, vehicle tyres, solar panels, bicycles, electrical equipment, electronic components, automotive parts and fisheries products.
The latest trade figures come amid continued economic and political sensitivities affecting cross-border relations between Cambodia and Thailand following tensions along sections of the shared border in recent months.
