PHNOM PENH, May 26, 2026 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has extended greetings and well wishes to Muslims in Cambodia and around the world ahead of the Raya Haji festival, while praising the country’s Muslim community for contributing to peace and religious harmony.

In a message posted on Telegram on Wednesday Hun Manet and his wife congratulated Cambodian Muslims both at home and abroad as they prepared to celebrate Raya Haji on May 27.

The prime minister also congratulated 1,210 Cambodian Muslims who travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam.

Hun Manet described the pilgrimage as an important religious duty for Muslims with the means to undertake it and noted that Cambodian pilgrims were joining Muslims from around the world in the annual rites.

In his message, the premier expressed appreciation to Cambodia’s Muslim community for helping maintain peace, religious harmony and ethnic unity alongside other Cambodian citizens.

He said the spirit of sacrifice, generosity and sharing associated with Raya Haji reflected strong social solidarity, particularly through the distribution of meat and charitable support to poorer families and Muslim communities.

Hun Manet said such practices demonstrated compassion and ensured that people in need were able to celebrate the important religious occasion with dignity.

Cambodia is home to a sizeable Muslim minority, primarily from the Cham ethnic community, and the government has frequently highlighted the country’s record of religious coexistence and social harmony.
